Hear from families, students, and teachers about their German DLI experience.
"I love that my child is moving through school with the same group of friends so their friendships are closer and I get to know the other parents even better than I would with only one year together."
R. Shepherd,
German DLI Parent
My husband Irvin and I have three boys. For two years now, we’ve been part of the Brookwood German DLI program—a dream come true for our family. Growing up bilingual with two cultures has enriched my life in countless ways, and a high school German exchange opened up a whole new world for me. I wanted the same for my children, and now, thanks to Brookwood, they’re experiencing that at a young age. They’re learning a new language, embracing a new culture, and even participating in a German exchange program, just like I did. We’re so grateful for this chance to open doors for our boys and share our culture with new friends. It’s been a gift we’ll treasure forever.

German DLI Parent
"As both a parent and educator in our school’s Dual Language Immersion program, I’m thrilled by its impact on our students. My daughter, now four years in, and my son, who just started Kindergarten, love learning German and exploring the culture. From singing songs to celebrating events like Martinstag, they’re gaining more than just language skills—they’re developing a deep cultural appreciation.
As a teacher, I see how the DLI program creates a dynamic bilingual environment that boosts cognitive skills and problem-solving. Watching our students grow linguistically and socially has been incredibly rewarding. The program equips them with essential skills for the future, and I can't wait to see what they achieve!"
